What generation is your family business?
4th Generation

What is your role in the family business?
My primary role is in Marketing, but I also have strong roles in Customer Service & Retail Support. I’m lucky enough to be able to dabble in other areas too when opportunities present themselves. For example, I often help out in Payroll, Administration, and even on the Warehouse floor during the busy Christmas rush. I love this flexibility because it keeps the job interesting and allows me to gain a greater understanding of the business both internally and externally.

What/ who is a major influence for you in the family business?
Our company has a very positive culture of trust, quality and friendship that has been fostered over many decades, and this has definitely been a major influence.  It’s amazing to work in an environment where value is placed on things like respect, honest Customer service, quality and the safety and security of our Team. I think it’s helped make me a better person during my time here.

Dad has also been a major influence. He knows the business better than anyone and believes wholeheartedly in these values. He’s help form my entire belief system.

What keeps you up at night?
Mostly Youtube and Video Games. I’ve really got to stop with that.

What’s the key benefit of your FBA membership?
There’s nothing more comforting than having the support of people who understand the challenges you face. As a family member of a family business, whether for better or worse, you sometimes have a tendency to try and hide your emotions and weaknesses – you feel like you have to act a certain way or people will lose faith in you. FBA offers a safe forum to discuss your concerns and fears openly and talk to others who are going through the same thing. That alone makes it worth it, but the workshops and training that’s offered is also an amazing benefit. It expands your skill set and strengthens you emotionally.
