With April upon us, South Australia has just come through a State Election and after 16 years we have a new Premier in Steven Marshall and a Liberal Government. The new Ministry includes a couple of current or ex family business individuals, and we hope that this bodes well for the family business sector in South Australia. Update here

We have been busy planning the next financial year’s events here in South Australia and importantly the newly named event Family Business Insights SA – which is a renewed event formerly known as the State Conference. Details are here for the May 18 event.

Some exciting member news this month including the official opening of the Haigh’s Chocolate Factory in Mile End South, opened by the Honourable John Trainer OAM, Mayor City of West Torrens, which I was lucky enough to attend.

Other news, South Australia’s Industry Leaders Fund has opened its 2018 study grant scheme, inviting industry leaders to apply for up to $50,000 each to develop their professional potential and join an influential 122-member scholar network. Applicants must work in businesses located in the State and employ South Australians in jobs that could be located interstate or overseas.
