What a month we’ve had here at Family Business Australia. Buoyed by the success of our 17th National Conference, and inspired by so many fantastic family business stories, FBA QLD went full steam ahead into September – guns blazing!
In our aim to grow our presence on the Sunshine Coast, we teamed up with KPMG and ran our first FBA event on September 9. Our aim in holding this breakfast meeting on “Succession and Governance in a family business” was clear – to educate the Sunshine Coast community about FBA and the benefits we offer to our members. A room full of attendees who didn’t know that we even existed, left the meeting wiser to our offerings – and that’s all we can ask for.
Looking ahead into October, we begin the first of our 6 new education and networking offerings I mentioned in last month’s blog. The panel session will form part of 3 “Conversation Series” events over the next 12 months. The topic for the October 8 event is “Pay, PD’s and Performance in a Family Business”, facilitated by Belinda Winter from Cooper Grace Ward. Our panellists are: Michael Simonyi from Davidson Recruitment, James Folwell from Steel X and David Harland from FINH, all FBA members and wise on the topic. With this event taking place after hours, we hope to get as many people as possible who can’t normally take part in our Chairman’s Lunches or daytime events due to work commitments.
To register for any or all of these events please go to the Family Business website: www.fambiz.com.au
Until next month!
