At FBA October is a time for reflection and planning. We are looking over the last 12 months to determine how we can assist you better in the coming 12 months.  National Family Business Day on the 19th September is also a good day to reflect on the invaluable contribution family businesses make to the Australian economy, community and culture. It provides a chance for all family and non-family members of the family business as well as stakeholders and local governments to come together and recognise this important sector; the opportunities available and the challenges faced.  It was fantastic to see family businesses across the country including Macadamias Australia and Openbook Howden Design and Print jumping on social media to share how they were celebrating.

The Australian Made Campaign was a proud supporter of the day, recognizing more than two thirds of all Australian businesses are family owned and run.  They saw National Family Business Day as an opportunity to support local manufacturers and farmers, by promoting the importance of family businesses and keeping local people in jobs. We particularly liked the “Made by our Family” campaign shared across their network below.

Made by our family
With lots of new members recently joining us and plenty of established members strengthening the community, we are developing a more targeted approach to meet the needs of various groups within the diverse family business sector. In 2016 we will continue our presence in central and regional areas as well as our offerings across professional development courses, social education events, webinars and the National Family Business Conference, next year to be in Melbourne. Stay tuned for more information.
