The Fair Work Ombudsman will this week team with the Australian Taxation Office, Australian Securities and Investment Commission and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to deliver a Webinar aimed at assisting small business employers prepare for the new financial year.

The third such multi-agency Webinar, this time hosted by the Fair Work Ombudsman and with Barefoot Investor Scott Pape as master of ceremonies, will deliver topics on the theme: “Preparing yourself for the 2016/2017 financial year: what you need to know and do”. The Webinar will discuss:

  • Tools and resources available to assist small business to meet end-of-year requirements,
  • Ways to prepare a business for the coming financial year, and
  • How to protect and strengthen a business in the coming year

Fair Work Ombudsman Executive Director for Proactive Compliance and Education Lynda McAlary-Smith, will speak on the issues of annual wage review, the role and responsibilities of intermediaries under the Fair Work Act, refreshing your workplace knowledge and the Agency’s Pay and Conditions Tool and E-learning courses.

Joining Ms McAlary-Smith will be ACCC deputy chair Dr Michael Schaper; ATO deputy commissioner Steve Vesperman and ASIC senior manager of Small Business Compliance and Deterrence Joe Zubcic.

The Webinar is free and will be held at 7 pm (EST) on Thursday, June 9, to make it easier for small business owners to attend. Register by going to the website.
