Hello! As incoming Chariman I have considered what I need to be and what I need to do for benefit of the role.  And I’ve decided that it is to GET ATTENTION for FBA both from within and outside our membership.FBA has been running some great events recently and as a relatively new member of the committee I’ve been to most of them.  To be honest, I even went to a couple out of a feeling of obligation.  I didn’t think that it would be relevant for me, I’m busy at work, it will eat into family time etc etc. What I experienced though was uplifting and insightful events.  I also made the effort to talk to strangers and met really nice, interesting people.  I then left the events feeling inspired and motivated.

The subjects of the events gave me pause for thought and helped me think strategically about my own businesses.  Most importantly it was time away from my family which unlike just being at work, helping me shape how our business interacts with our family, for the better.

These events and FBA itself are tremendously valuable, if we make the time to get involved. So my job is to help get your attention and get you involved!  Rob Davis is speaking at our next breaky on July 28th on ‘Getting from the Dining Room to the Boardroom’ which itself will be great.   But I will also probably meet another family business who can help put me in touch with a software development guru which I need.  Or they may tell me about their unique and interesting business which will spark a thought in my little brain about what we can do to improve in our businesses. You get the idea.

Finally I’d like to say a big thank you to Andrew Mostyn who has been a great Chairman of FBA WA for many years.  Andrew will remain on the committee for the coming months before taking a well-earned break at the end of this year when he jumps into his motor home with his wonderful wife Gabe as they set off to explore around Australia.
