Hello to everyone,

I can hardly believe we are half way through the year already.  I was so pleased to see the success of the NSW State Conference this year. A massive team effort, a different format (ie: all speakers had 20 minutes only) and very up beat feel. There were a number of new faces who came along and a number of family businesses who have been members for a long time. We are all so busy working in our businesses so by attending these events, it gives you plenty of opportunity to take that ‘helicopter perspective’ of looking into your business.

I attended my second national board meeting in Melbourne where we worked as a group to finalise the strategic plan. Major sponsors were confirmed for the next few years. Brad Scott from EWM Group (Australia’s first independent multi family office) came down from Brisbane and spoke with us about his company history and how he can assist the FBA Community.  We were also treated to a lovely dinner at the new KPMG offices in Melbourne to discuss how KPMG can work more closely to grow FBA’s membership as part of their sponsorship involvement around Australia.

We can see the changes beginning to occur in the event space, the education space and in the membership space. The Adviser accreditation process has had an overhaul and will be rolled out soon.

We have a further free “Insider event – Show & Tell” on 27 July at Pronto Software at North Ryde. Consider bringing other Family Businesses friends along to try FBA.

We are really excited to be attending the National Conference in Hamilton Island from 30 August to 1 September 2017 with a great line up of speakers and sessions.  The best part of these conferences is meeting other like-minded family businesses and people in the same position as you – generally from different industries yet we all have similarities. Make new friends, catch up with old friends and build your networks. I know from my experience, many people consider joining a forum group after the national conference as it cements the benefits of being in a group after speaking with others about their Forum Group journeys.

On 19 September we have Family Business Day. More to come on that a little later.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming events.  Please spread the FBA word and if you would like me or Wendy to have a chat to anyone who is considering or interested in FBA and the benefits, we are only too happy to do this.

If you are keen to use the FBA Emblem on your emails, letterheads, packaging or website, please feel free to speak with Wendy about how you can obtain a high resolution copy.

See you soon.

Warm regards,

Danielle Robertson
