If you are still scratching your head wondering about the new political landscape of Queensland, take relief and think about the exciting developments at FBA Queensland in 2015. We are forming partnerships with key industry associations, spreading the word about the FBA National Conference on the Gold Coast, and growing awareness of the significance of the family business sector.
We’ve started the year with an inspirational visit from Emily Spalding of Jimmy Possum Furniture who hosted FBA members at the family’s Fortitude Valley store. Emily’s key message is a great reminder for all families in business: be passionate, talk to one another, connect with other family businesses, and remember, be thankful.

In the lead-up to the FBA National Conference on the Gold Coast, we have formed a partnership with Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce, and will work closely with Gold Coast City Council, to promote the Conference and the value of the family business sector. We encourage all Queensland family businesses to block out your calendar for 26 – 28 August and take advantage of the opportunity to connect with one another and learn at the Conference.
We have several professional development programs running this year, including the Financial Essentials course on 23 April. This course is ideal for those of us who want to develop a dashboard of key business indices and understand business financials. Our Forum Program is also a great way to connect and grow with like-minded family business leaders. And a final word from Emily Spalding to apply when things get tough, “Pick yourself up, learn resilience and keep on going”. Thanks Emily.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
