The Destination – Alice Springs

Think you know Alice Springs? Think again…

Unlike any other place, only Alice Springs provides an authentic outback experience coupled with high quality facilities befitting an international city. Renowned as the artistic capital and centre of excellence for Indigenous knowledge, renewable energy, health and education, this cultural melting pot connects all people to learn and be inspired. A destination where you can explore historic sites, try the many adventure activities amongst desert landscape, or visit Aboriginal art galleries featuring local artists.

Haven’t been there lately? Well, it’s time to see for yourself…!

In 2018, Family Business Australia and Alice Springs will unite.  You will have the opportunity to get back to grass roots, connect deeply with the red heart of Australia and really tap in to your competitive advantage as a family.

You will be awe-struck by the venues we have in store – from the Old Quarry, to the Telegraph Station, Simpson’s Gap, and Ooraminna Homestead Station.

This will be an adventure you won’t forget, you’ll arrive open-minded and leave inspired and truly touched by this incredible place. This is also a chance to consider Alice Springs for the whole family – we want this to be an experience where you can share your memories and take-outs around the board table and the dinning table.

The Conference Theme

The Competitive Advantage of Family

The power of business + family is proven! Family businesses are more trusted, generate higher ROI on R&D, have more committed employees, and customers who are prepared to pay more for their products – when compared to non-family businesses*.

Speakers at FBA’s 2018 National Conference will provide thought-provoking sessions on core elements of success for families in business. Along with iconic multi-generational business families sharing their journeys, you will be asking yourself if you are doing enough to leverage your family business advantage – and if not, what you need to do to start.

National Family Business Awards Dinner

A highlight of our red centre experience will be the annual National Family Business Awards evening. The opportunity to celebrate and recognise the achievements of family owned Australian businesses, and the special achievers who contribute positively to our lives, our culture and the future of the Australian economy. This magical evening will take place within the unique outdoor setting of the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station. Set amongst the stunning ambience of authentic, heritage listed buildings dating back to 1871, and the natural beauty of the reserve and wildlife, we will celebrate under a sky of a million twinkling stars. This will be a night to remember!

NxG Workshop

FBA National Platinum Sponsor, KPMG Enterprise, will host a full day NxG workshop at a truly special location. Ooraminna Station is unlike any other experience. A 600 acre property with the rustic backdrop of glorious visions of desert hills, you will enjoy the tranquility and charm of the Outback.

The Longest Lunches

A true highlight in the conference program are the Longest Lunches, these are an opportunity for you to mingle and meet old friends and new over lunch and in 2018 they will be back! Enjoy an afternoon of good food, great company and lots of fun.

Dinner at The Old Quarry

The Old Quarry is stunning! Surrounded by ragged rock faces and a deep ravine through the MacDonnell Ranges, this unique outback setting allows you to gain an insight into the rich cultural centre of Central Australia. Our final night of festivities will bring together families and new friends as we enjoy a true rustic dining experience.
