Moreton Island 2017 – Forum Group Retreat
Sun, Sand and a bit of Self Reflection were the themes of the 2017 Queensland combined Forum Group Retreat. A 3-day retreat between 21 – 23 July saw the Queensland Forum Groups with their families once again go to Moreton Island, a hidden jewel surrounded by clear blue water not far from Brisbane.
After the mandatory catch up with old and new friends, ensuring the networking opportunities where had, and a few drinks and nibbles on the sand watching the sunset we settled in to a great dinner great dinner and then an outdoor fire, where the laughter filled the air and the drinks fuelled our spirits.
On Saturday morning, the self-assessment and reflection provided both new and confirmed insights into oneself, the other forum group members and provided additional tools to enhance the conversations within and between family members, staff, customers and people in general. It was a great session by guest facilitator Judy Reynolds from Opening Gates.
With the sun high in the clear blue sky, a troupe of 4WDs hit the sand tracks towards the ocean side to allow some whale spotting (which did not disappoint) and to test both man and machine abilities.
Another sunset, more networking, the best lamb shanks washed down by great reds we retired around a crackling fire under a star lit sky to allow the group to continued to Share, Connect and Grow as family business do so well.
Thank you to our hosts (and family business) Raz and Liz Shaw and all the staff at Castaway / Moreton Island Adventures who made the 2017 Retreat just a memorable as the past ones.
On the Micat Ferry on the way back to Brisbane the general consensus was monthly forum group meetings on Moreton Island would be a great idea, we just needed to convince the better half and the staff of its business merits!
