Business strategist, leadership thinker, and author of Built to Last, Good to Great, How the Mighty Fall and Great by Choice, Jim Collins will be presenting live in Australia at The Growth Summit, in partnership with Family Business Australia, in March 2015. Collins’ books have devised some simple but compelling concepts around how great companies are built and why big companies fail. In a recent article, Joanne Gray of the Australian Financial Review spoke exclusively with Jim Collins about the secret of innovation and great leadership, celebrity chief executives as well as his new enthusiasms.

Jim reflects that we are entering an era of tremendous ‘disruption chaos’ and while previously he felt innovation was often a less pertinent factor to a company’s success, he now observes that it is how a company innovates and how it scales these innovations, rather than innovation of itself. Jim also talks about his future aspirations including his passion for young leaders who will face the challenges of tomorrow, the desire for his ideas to spread around the world and a focus on why some people accelerate their ambition later in life. When Jim visits Melbourne and Sydney, for the first time in 15 years, he will be taking a look at his latest book Great by Choice, taking attendees through the key characteristics and behaviours required to lead a company to greatness.
