“Pays, Pd’s and Performance Management in a family business” was the topic of our first conversation series panel event, which took place on October 8. Marketed as an after-hours event, we are looking at running 3 more of these next year, to appeal to our FBA members and supporters who can’t take time off in work hours to engage with other FBA members.
Our month concluded with a sell-out Chairman’s Lunch on the Gold Coast on October 30 – the last of our lunches for the year. Amanda Innes from the Saddlery Trading Company was our guest speaker, and Amanda recounted the story of her family business which was started by her father Greg Grant. The Grant name has been a mainstay of the Australian Saddlery Industry for over 40 years. Evolving from a Stock and Station Agency business in the early 1970’s, it now has both retail and wholesale arms that import and export – and is a family business that is embedded in the world Saddlery Industry. Her husband Wroxton, who manages the sales marketing and warehouse operations worked alongside Greg from the age of 18, and was on hand at the lunch to support Amanda as well as answer any questions the audience had for them.
